Chadron State College's choral groups will begin their 2008-2009 performance schedule with a concert this weekend. The Men's Ensemble, Women's Ensemble and Concert Choir will sing at the Chadron Arts Center on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. The event is open to the public free of charge.

The concert will feature a variety of music, including spiritual numbers dating back to the 12th century. The program also includes folks songs popularized in America, Brazil, Jamaica and Africa. Selections range from Haydn's "Dixit Dominus" to the more jovial "Wuh-Duh-Yuh Do with a Drunken Sailor?"

The choirs, which are conducted by music faculty members Joel Schreuder and Una Taylor, consist of 39 students - most of whom are studying music. Solos will be performed Shannon Smay, a theatre student from Sidney, and Denise Miller, a Sutherland High School graduate studying music business.
