Auditions set for Post Playhouse volunteers

Published:

Young and old are being given the opportunity to audition for volunteer parts at the Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson State Park this summer. Auditions for the repertory theatre’s three musicals will be Saturday, May 31, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the playhouse. The plays will be under the direction of Roger Mays, CSC associate professor of theatre.

The playhouse will hold auditions for the roles of Ngana, the daughter, and Jerome, the son of Emile DeBecque in “South Pacific,” winner of nine Tony Awards in its 1950 debut. For these roles, the playhouse seeks two boys and two girls ages 7-12 from Crawford, Hemingford, Chadron and surrounding communities, thereby comprising two sets of young volunteer actors to participate. Also, adults who wish to volunteer can audition for extra roles in “Oklahoma!.”

Post Playhouse Artistic Director Tom Ossowski, who is a faculty member of Florida State University’s musical theatre program, will conduct the auditions and cast the roles.

Ossowski will have both vocal selections and script selections ready for those who audition.

All interested actors/singers should call CSC Theatre Office at 308-432-6317 by Friday, May 30, to schedule a 15-minute audition. People interested in volunteering for the season can see the summer schedule at www.postplayhouse.com.

Auditioning child volunteers ages 7-12 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
