Visitors to Chadron State College’s Memorial Hall main gallery will have the opportunity to view a variety of artwork between now and the end of the semester. On display now are more than 30 oil paintings by Simon Huelsbeck of Rochester, Minn. Huelsbeck’s publicity material says that he twists historical themes and subjects while referencing traditional painting as it relates to his identity.

Huelsbeck holds a master’s degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a bachelor’s degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His work has been featured in galleries and institutions in Philadelphia, Chicago, Rochester, Minneapolis and New York.

The exhibit is on display until March 28.

Next up in the main gallery will be a pair of student shows. The first is the senior art show featuring the works of Jennifer Henry of White Clay, Megan Denton of Rushville and sisters Deana and Sally Roberts of Chadron. It begins March 31 and will end April 11 with a public reception from 4-6 p.m.

The senior show will be followed up by an exhibit that will feature submissions by art students of all grade levels. That show will be April 14-25.

Each of the shows are open to the public free of charge.
