The 20th annual Excellence in Early Childhood Conference will be Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, 2009, on the Chadron State College campus.

The theme of the conference is "United We Stand for Children ... Unique and Diverse."

One of the featured presenters will be Roberto Dansie, a college educator and author from French Gulch, Calif., who has garnered praise across the nation for his dynamic presentations about diversity. He will speak about his American Indian heritage as it relates to his presentation topics: "Cultural Wisdom," "The Circle of Courage," "Cultural Sensitivity," and "Healing Hearts-Healing Hands."

Scott Liebler, a Denver teacher, writer, speaker, motor development trainer, humorist and self-described "certified funsicologist," will present a workshop Friday afternoon about integrating music, movement and language to accomplish multiple learning objectives. In addition, his "Funsical-Fitness Made Fun and Musical" presentation will be the keynote address of the conference's free Family Fun Night on Friday.

Conference organizers strive to include a variety of topics that meet the interests and educational needs of those who work with families and children. The following presentations have been scheduled: Positive Behavior Supports; Celebrating Diversity Through Curriculum and Assessment; IMIL - I Am Learning, I Am Moving; Trends in Lifespan Wellness - Tai Chi and Muscle Strengthening; Working with Children with Challenging Behaviors - A Behavioral Health Perspective; Celebrating Differences ... Take them as They Are; Children and Food Preferences; and Implementing a Blended Curriculum in a Multi-age Environment.

CSC is one of many co-sponsors for the event. Educators, administrators, students, parents, families, caregivers and all who care for and about young children are encouraged to attend.

The conference will be offered for one college credit through CSC. Continuing education units and professional development units are available. Vendors and a display area will also be available.

As a change from previous years, information will not be mailed. Brochure and registration information is available only online at www.csc.edu/conferencing/upcoming.csc .
