A voice professor at Utah State University at Logan, Marcianne MacKay, will give a vocal concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24 in the Chicoine Atrium of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College.

MacKay will be accompanied by Jim Margetts, a piano professor at CSC. They have taken the same route in obtaining their training. Both earned bachelor’s degrees from Brigham Young University and attended the University of Cincinnati for master’s degrees and doctorates.

A soprano, MacKay previously taught at the University of Pacific at Stockton, Calif., and BYU-Idaho at Rexburg. She has sung extensively in both the United States and Europe.

Her program in Chadron will consist of both operatic arias and art songs from various eras. She will sing numbers by Schubert, Poulenc and the American composer Lee Hoiby. Featured arias include the famous "Czardas" from Richard Strauss' "Die Fledermaus," along with selections by Puccini and Verdi.

Admission to the concert will be free. No tickets will be necessary.
