Three musicals at Post Playhouse this summer

Three popular musicals will be presented this summer at the Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson. The playhouse opened 40 years ago, and continues to be a joint venture by Chadron State College, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Nebraska Arts Council.

The shows will be “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “Lucky Stiff” and “The Best of Broadway.” The season will open on June 15 and continue through Aug. 12.

The playhouse also is planning a Memorial Day Weekend special. The Bald Mountain Rounders, one of Nebraska’s outstanding bluegrass quartets, will be performing concerts filled with traditional American music on Saturday, May 26 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m.

Roger Mays, director of theatre at Chadron State College and the artistic director at the playhouse in recent years, is taking over as managing director this summer. The new artistic director is Tom Ossowski, who is involved in the music theatre program at Florida State University.

Actors and actresses from colleges and universities from the southeastern United States have been recruited to fill most of the on-stage roles at the playhouse this summer.

Prior to June 7, reservations for any of the performances may be made by calling 432-6317 at Chadron State College.
