Six tutors honored at CSC

Students who serve in Chadron State College’s tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs were given special recognition during a luncheon in the Kline Center on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Frances Gonzalez, director of CSC’s tutoring center, announced that five student tutors met certification requirements from the College Reading and Learning Association. They are Pam Anderson of Minden, Peter Charambira of Masvingo, Zimbabwe, Kristi Corey of Scottsbluff, Melat Sileshi of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Raycheal Steininger of Sidney.

To become certified, students complete 10 hours of training and 25 hours of tutoring. To become a tutor at Chadron State, a student must earn A's or B's in their coursework and receive a recommendation from a faculty member.

Gonzalez also gave special recognition to Jed German of Imperial who is leaving the tutoring program this winter after completing studies in CSC’s business program.
