Sandoz Society program for tonight cancelled
Because of blizzard conditions in parts of the region, William Bauer’s keynote address that was to help open the Mari Sandoz Heritage Society’s annual conference tonight (Thursday, March 29) at Chadron State College has been cancelled.
Bauer, who is a professor at the University of Wyoming, was unable to make the trip to Chadron as all highways out of Laramie were closed by the spring blizzard.
Bauer was to speak on American Indian biographies.
The coordinator of the conference, Lucinda Mays, said at noon today that Friday’s program focusing on Crazy Horse and the Indian wars in the 1870s is still scheduled. The first session is set for 8:30 a.m. in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center.
