Many activities scheduled for CSC's Family Day

Parents, siblings and other relatives of Chadron State College students will arrive in Chadron this weekend for CSC’s annual Family Day festivities. While in Chadron, families will be given the opportunity to participate in more than a dozen events and activities. Friday night will feature the Wind Symphony’s concert in Memorial Hall at 7:30 p.m. and the Eagles’ volleyball match against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs at 7 o’clock.

The CSC music department Saturday will host a pancake feed from 7-10 a.m. at the Masonic Hall at 365 Main Street. The CSC Student Center will serve as headquarters for other family activities Saturday morning, including “Funny Fotos,” horse drawn tours and a luncheon in the cafeteria for students and their families.

Four families with three generations of CSC alumni will be recognized during the Family Tree Brunch in the Student Center ball room at 10 a.m. They are the families of Arthur and Dorothy Adams of Laramie, Wyo., Bruce and Elva Bartels of Albion, Lester Jones and his late wife Thelma of Scottsbluff, and the late Lee and Elbe Hallsted of Crawford.

A pair of unbeaten Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football teams will square off at Elliott Field at noon Saturday when the No. 3 Eagles take on the Mesa State Mavericks. The players and their parents will be introduced prior to kickoff, and a post game reception will follow the game at the Country Kitchen Restaurant at 1250 West 10th St.

Sports fans also can get a preview of the CSC wrestling team during the team’s open practice in the Nelson Physical Activity Center at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday night, the CSC Office of Student Activities is co-sponsoring the fourth annual “Haunted House with a Historical Twist” in downtown Crawford. The event, which is part of the Crawford Fall Festival, begins at 5 p.m. in the upstairs of the Ranch House Restaurant.
