Law enforcement to gather at CSC

A workshop at Chadron State College on Monday, Oct. 22, will inform law enforcement officers and other government employees about their rights and benefits. The workshop, sponsored by CSC’s Justice Studies Department, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center.
Lisette Leesch, CSC legal studies professor, said agencies from western Nebraska and South Dakota have been invited to the event, but that it is open free of charge to all law enforcement and governmental employees. Registration is due by Thursday, Oct. 18.
Four lawyers from Lincoln who specialize in the workshop’s topic will serve as presenters. They are Jane Burke, Joel Nelson, Doug Peterson and Gary Young.
Topics include a number of current events and items of interest to today’s law enforcement officers. They include First Amendment issues, workers’ compensation, personal injury, internal affairs, grand juries, the Brady Bill, and Commission of Industrial Relations prohibitive practices cases.
Registrations for the workshops can be made by contacting Jeri Neuharth, CSC social sciences office assistant, at (308) 432-6441 or jneuharth@csc.edu.
