More than 320 high school students will gain career insight during Chadron State College’s Health Professions Day on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at various locations on campus.

Jill Mack, CSC Health Professions coordinator, said some of the students are coming from communities hundreds of miles away, including Sutton, Holdrege and Yoder, Wyo.

Professionals are planning presentations about a wide range of health care careers, including chiropractic, medical technology, dentistry, dental hygiene, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, veterinary medicine and radiography.

A panel of current CSC students will tell the group about their experiences studying health professions. In addition, representatives of CSC and the University of Nebraska Medical Center will tell about the Rural Health Opportunities Program, which addresses the needs of rural Nebraska by encouraging rural residents to pursue health care careers. If selected to the program, students obtain early admission into participating UNMC colleges upon completion of studies at Chadron State.
