Graves Lecture Series to resume at CSC
The Dorset Graves Lecture Series at Chadron State College will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. in the basement of the King Library. The programs are open to the public without charge.
The series of scholarly programs was begun last fall by Milton Wolf, the library director. The series is named after Dr. Dorset Graves, English professor emeritus at CSC.
The first speaker in 2007 will be Dr. Brad Wilburn, assistant professor of philosophy at CSC. His topic will be “Virtues of Improvement.”
The other speakers and their topics this spring are:
Jan. 30—Dr. Chuck Butterfield, associate professor of agriculture, “Wildfire Ecology and Nature’s Fecundity.”
Feb. 13—Dr. Mike Leite, associate professor of earth science, “The Fossils Speak of an Incredible Journey.”
Feb. 27—Dr. Ron Weedon, professor of biology, “Medicinal Plants of the Midwest.”
March 20—Sara Polak, director of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, “Crazy Horse.”
March 27—Dr. Robert McEwen, professor of English, reading his poetry.
April 3—Sara Polak, “Stolen Art.”
The programs last about an hour. Refreshments follow.
