The Golden Dragon Acrobats, now in their 29th year of touring the United States the year-round, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 25 in Memorial Hall at Chadron State College during a Galaxy Series event.

The Golden Dragons are carrying on an art form that began centuries ago in China. Besides breath-taking acrobatics, the performances include traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and a variety of theatrical techniques.

Last year, the troupe received two of the New York Drama Desk’s most prestigious nominations—Danny Chang for Unique Theatrical Experience and Angela Chang for Best Choreography.

In addition to its appearances in the United States, the Golden Dragons have performed in more than 65 foreign countries, usually to sold-out audiences.

Historical evidence indicates that Chinese acrobatics began as far back as the Xia Dynasty some 4,000 years ago. The art form that has developed through the centuries is now one of the important cultural exchanges between China and the Western world, including the United States.

Tickets may be reserved by contacting the Memorial Hall box office at 432-6360. Admission will be $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and $6 for youths 18 and under. All tickets at the door will be $11.
