ESU's Career Day at CSC on Monday

About 325 sophomores from 10 high schools in the Panhandle will be at Chadron State College on Monday, March 5 for the annual Career Day sponsored by Educational Service Unit 13 based at Scottsbluff.

The event is designed to provide career and technical education information for the students so they can plan for their occupations.

Fourteen area residents will be in attendance to present information about their professions in 20-minute segments. Each of the students will attend five of the sessions.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. in the CSC Student Center. John Bays, a member of the ESU 13 staff, is the Career Day coordinator.

The participating high schools are Bayard, Bridgeport, Chadron, Crawford, Gordon/Rushville, Hay Springs, Hemingford, Mitchell, Morrill and Sioux County.

The presenters and their topics are:

--Tracy Shuck of Creative Dining Services at CSC, foods, culinary arts and restaurant careers.

--Linda Lacy of Hyannis, arts and visual arts.

--Lori Frederick of Chadron, landscape design.

--Mario Chavez of Western Nebraska Community College, community colleges.

--Walt Nelson of Chadron State Park, state park and recreation careers.

--Bradley Fillmore of Chadron State, health professions.

--Terri Haynes of Whitney, airline careers.

--Dr. L.E. Steadman of Chadron, veterinary medicine.

--Dr. Joseph Shetler of Gordon, optometry and vision careers.

--Blanca Stransky of Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, National Park Service.

--Sgt. Bennett Muasau of Scottsbluff, Army careers.

--Dr. Scott Johnson of Chadron, chiropractic medicine.

--John Bays of Scottsbluff, teacher education.

--Jerri Woodard of Chadron, massage therapy.
