Eight selected for intercollegiate band

Eight members of the Chadron State College wind ensemble have been selected to play in the Nebraska Intercollegiate Band that will be performing Friday, March 2 during the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Convention in Lincoln.

The concert will be at 8 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall. The band will be directed by Dr. Gerald King, director of the School of Music at the University of Victoria in British Columbia.

The CSC band members chosen for the intercollegiate band are Stephanie Aulston of Julesburg, Colo.; Cynthia Gillespie and Alex Jones of Alliance, Andrew Meyers of Minden, Gordon Mowen of Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, Nicole Penning of Rapid City, Katie Ringleman of Imperial and Sara Schmidt of Chadron.

This is the third year that Aulston has been selected for the intercollegiate band. Meyer and Schmidt have been chosen once before.

Other highlights of the convention will include a concert by the U.S. Navy Band at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Kimball Hall and performances by six guest bands from throughout Nebraska on Friday.

On Saturday, the Nebraska Wind Symphony will give a concert at 10:30 a.m.
