Community chorus to begin rehearsals
Rehearsals for the Chadron Community Chorus will begin in Memorial Hall at Chadron State College at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Jan. 11) and continue on Thursday evenings (with the exception of March 8) until the concert, which will be on Sunday, April 15 at the Chadron Arts Center.
Despite the fact that the concert is set for April 15, the choir won't be singing about taxes or the IRS, said Dr. Una Taylor, the director. Instead, she said the spring program promises to be a lot of fun.
The selections will include American folk tunes such as “Down by the Riverside,” “Sweet Betsy from Pike,” “O Susannah,” “Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair” and “O Shenandoah.”
One number, “Swingin’ With the Saints,” is a what Taylor describes as “a fun and jazzy” arrangement that combines "Oh, When the Saints" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
New members are always welcome to join the chorus, Taylor said. Those with questions may call Taylor at 432-6484 or email her at utaylor@csc.edu.
