Chadron community band to give concert

The Chadron Community Symphonic Band will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 in Memorial Hall. The band is directed by Dr. Michael Stephens, who joined the Chadron State faculty this fall shortly after earning his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.

Formerly known as the Bordeaux Community Band, the band has 25 members this fall. Among the numbers on the program are John Phillip Sousa’s “Washington Post March” and a march by Karl King, “Bonds of Unity.” Another lively number to be presented is “Huntingtowers” by Respighi.

Also on the program will be a saxophone quartet and a clarinet trio made up of Chadron State students who are studying with Stephens this fall.

Tickets for the concert may be reserved by calling the Memorial Hall box office at 308-432-6360. They are $5 for adults and $3 senior citizens and youths 18 and under if obtained in advance. All tickets at the door will be $6.
