Business students rank high in state contests

All 13 Chadron State College business majors who entered contests at the Nebraska Phi Beta Lambda Business Fraternity conference in Kearney on Saturday placed among the top eight in at least one event. Students from a dozen colleges and universities participated.CSC students earned two firsts and three seconds. Those placing among the top two in a contest are eligible to enter the national competition in Chicago in June.

The firsts were won by Nicole Hagen of Ogallala in Hospitality Management and Amanda Smith of Dalton in Financial Analysis and Decision Making. Smith also earned a second in Human Resource Management.

Other CSC students placing second were Audrey Roberts of Hot Springs, S.D., in Management Analysis and Brian Mecough of Tabernacle, N.J., in Computer Applications.

Jed German of Imperial was third in Accounting for Professionals and fourth in Accounting Analysis and Decision Making. Jessica Burke of Crawford was third in Statistical Analysis. Another Crawford student, Tony Staab, was fourth in Information Management.
