Award-winning children’s book author and teacher Nancy Sharp of Fremont will speak in the Student Center at Chadron State College the evening of Monday, Feb. 5. The program will be open to the public.

At 6:30, Sharp will discuss her work, emphasizing the process she uses to write her books.

Her latest work, “Effie’s Image,” won a Teachers’ Choice Award from Learning Magazine. Another of her books, “The Ring Bear,” was selected by Nebraska’s Center for the Book as Children’s Category winner in 2004. In addition, “Today I’m Going Fishing with My Dad” was a Nebraska Golden Sower nominee in 1995-96.

Those wishing to eat dinner with the author may go through the CSC cafeteria line from 5 to 6 p.m. and join Sharp in the Niobrara Room. Those who want to hear Sharp at 6:30, but don’t plan to eat in the cafeteria, are requested to use the southwest door of the Student Center to enter the Niobrara Room.

Sharp’s appearance is being sponsored by the NeKota Reading Council and Chadron State College.
