The event is being hosted by CSC woodwind students and is coordinated by Carola Winkle, director of the woodwinds program at the college.

Five clinicians will open the day with a recital at 9 a.m. They also will give small-group clinics at 11:15

Also featured during the day will be three of the top clarinet performers at Chadron State in recent years. They are CSC graduates Laura Empson and Malinda Sprentall Linegar, both of Chadron, and senior Shannon Yetter of Sutherland.

Several CSC woodwind ensembles will present a free concert at 1 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Included will be clarinet quartet that has been selected to perform at the North Central Music Educators Conference/Nebraska Music Educators Conference in Lincoln in November.

Woodwind Day will conclude with a concert involving all the visiting high school musicians at 2:45 p.m. Winkle will direct the concert as it performs selections from “Ten Masterworks” by William Pelz.
