Walk set to benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
The CSC Health Professions Club is organizing a 10 kilometer walk to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, beginning at the Nelson Physical Activity Center.
Free will donations will be taken and some participants are taking pledges. Each participant and donor will be given a tee-shirt and will be invited to a free picnic in Wilson Park following the walk.
Cystic fibrosis is caused by a defective gene that causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening infections.
A spokesman for the Health Professions Club said many people are not familiar with cystic fibrosis and the club members are hoping the walk will increase the awareness of it.
