Vocal concert is Sunday at Arts Center

A variety of music, including classical, sacred, love songs and popular, will be presented during a concert by three vocal groups from Chadron State College on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. at the Chadron Arts Center at Fourth and Bordeaux Streets. The concert will feature both the women’s and men’s ensembles and the concert choir.

The women’s ensemble is directed by Dr. Una Taylor. Its numbers will include “Sound the Trumpet,” “The Mouse Madrigal,” “Beau Soir” and “Zion’s Walls.”

Both the men’s ensemble and the choir are directed by Dr. Joel Schreuder.

Among the numbers the men’s ensemble will present are “African Processional,” “Magnificat,” “Blood on the Saddle,” “Flunky Jim” and “The Rhythm of Love.”

The choir’s selections will include “Come Let’s Rejoice,” “Lamentations of Jeremiah,” “Past Life Melodies,” “Never Seek to Tell Thy Love,” and “God Is My Rock.”

What is described as “a French tongue twister,” a sacred number, “Ubi Caritas,” and a Bosnian folk song also will be sung by the choir.

The choir has 45 voices.

Members of the women’s ensemble include Rachael Christian, Gordon; Sarah Douglas, North Platte; Hope Dubs, Ashby; Shana Lathrop, Gering; Whitney Rickard, Scottsbluff; Sully Serrano, Rapid City; Ashley Shimp, Alliance; Sarah Tomsen, Minden; Larae Tronstad, Powell, Wyo.; and Brittany Weglin, Yoder, Wyo.

Making up the men’s ensemble are Kevin Berggren, Broken Bow; Joe Essay, Bayard; Jesse Hamer, Rapid City; David Hockenbary, Murdo, S.D.; Mike Mamula, Box Elder, S.D.; Aaron Sargent, Imperial; Dustin Slepicka, Yutan; Shane Teichmeier, Cairo, Neb.; and Chris Van Dyke, Benkelman.

Piano accompanists are Jim Margetts for the women’s ensemble, Malinda Sprentall Linegar for the men’s ensemble and Kim Huckfeldt for the choir.

Reservations may be made through the Memorial Hall box office at CSC. Tickets obtained in advance are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and youths 18 and under. There is no charge for CSC personnel if the tickets are obtained in advance. All tickets at the door will be $6. The phone number for the box office is 432-6360.
