Tickets going fast for Baxter Black

As of Wednesday, Jan. 18, fewer than 40 tickets remained for nationally syndicated cowboy poet Baxter Black’s performance at Chadron State College. The show will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Black has written several books and produced numerous CDs and videos. He frequently recites his poetry on National Public Radio.

During the afternoon of Black’s performance, poets and musical performers from throughout the Great Plains will take part in the Chadron State College Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Four sessions of entertainment are planned.

Baxter Black is part of Chadron State’s Galaxy Series of fine arts events. Other Galaxy Series events this spring are the Montana Reportory Theatre’s rendition of “The Trip to Bountiful,” Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m.; classical guitarist Robert Bluestone, Wednesday, March 22, 7:30 p.m.; and the multimedia event, “The Langston Hughes Project: 12 Moods for Jazz,” Wednesday, April 12, 7:30 p.m. Also, the CSC Juried Art Exhibit will be March 1-30.

Tickets reserved in advance for Galaxy Series events are $10 for adults, $6 for children and seniors, and free for Chadron State College students and employees. All tickets at the door will be $11.

Tickets may be reserved by calling the Memorial Hall Box Office at (308) 432-6360 from 2-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. During other times, people may leave a message with their phone number on the box office answering machine. Calls will be returned as soon as possible.
