Post Playhouse having successful summer

Published:

Despite high gas prices, the Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson is having a good summer, according to Loree MacNeill, the executive director.

MacNeill said the three shows that are being presented have been well received and that the number of playhouse patrons is on about a par with most recent years.

“All-in-all, it’s been a real good summer,” said MacNeill. “If there’s anyone around who hasn’t visited us yet, I would encourage them to make reservations and come see a show before it’s too late.”

The playhouse will be open three more weeks before closing on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 14 and 15 with variety shows presented by the actors and actresses.

The shows are “Opal’s Baby” and “Spinoff,” both comedies, and “The Fantasticks,” the record-setting musical. They are presented each weeknight except Mondays at 8 p.m., at 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays and at 4 p.m. on Sundays.

A native of England has made reservations for Aug. 10. MacNeill said he found the Post Playhouse on the Web. “He said he wanted to see the Old West. I think Fort Robinson with its history, horses, buffalo and longhorns is about as Old West as it gets. We’re just glad that he going to attend one of our shows, too.”

Reservations may be made by calling 308-665-1976.
