The children of the Chadron State College Child Development Center have one more reason to be excited about attending the daycare facility. New playground equipment was installed at the center last week.

About $5,000 of the $11,100 project was funded with an Elks Crippled Children's Foundation grant. Fund-raisers by the children's parents and families also helped make the installation of the new equipment possible.

Dr. Kim Madsen, the center's director, said the new equipment is part of a strategic plan to upgrade the outdoor playground for the center in preparation for renewal of a national accreditation status and self-study that will be conducted fall 2006 and spring 2007.

The project's volunteers included Bob McEwen, Ann Krejci, Buff Buffacado, the Chadron State maintenance crew, CDC staff and families, Bradley Orr, Jamie McKinnon, Jay Loghry, the Pine Ridge Job Corps, and Jamie and Karen Eisenbarth.
