Haunted house, Halloween activities set at Fort Robinson
A number of Chadron State College students will participate in the third annual Haunted House with a Historical Twist at Fort Robinson State Park near Crawford. A number of events are planned both Saturday and Halloween, which is next Tuesday.
The festivities, which will be in the area of the Buffalo Soldiers Barracks and Barn 105, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday with a number of events for children. They include meeting Elmo Eagle, a cake walk, face painting and gourd painting. At 4 p.m., there will be a costume contest followed by a chili feed and wagon rides. A haunted house for small children will be open from 4-5 p.m. For older visitors, the more scary haunted house will be from 5-9 p.m. On Halloween, that haunted house will be open from 5-8 p.m.
Holly Counts of Crawford, a CSC student who works for the Nebraska Historical Society, and Laure Sinn, CSC coordinator of student activities, have been instrumental in planning the festivities. They said the haunted house is themed around events that could have happened in the period of the fort’s operation as a military installment.
The event is being sponsored by Fort Robinson State Park and CSC’s Office of Student Activities.
