Don Sherrill to sing in Greeley
Western Nebraska’s most famous opera singer, Don Sherrill, will be performing at the Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley, Colo., at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 in “3 Redneck Tenors—A New Musical Adventure.”
The show is said to include “down home fun with big city music.” It is the story of three singers—Billy Ray, Billy Bob and Billy Billee—who begin their careers in Paris (Paris, Texas, that is), and go all the way to New York’s Carnegie Hall.
A portion of the press release about the performance says it’s basically “a foot stompin’, knee slappin’ uproariously funny musical redneck romp with the tunes of Elvis to Puccini and Country to Opera.”
Like Sherrill, the other performers have plenty of opera and musical theater experience.
Sherrill is a 1981 graduate of Chadron State College. He has had the lead in numerous popular operas such as “Hansel and Gretel,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” “Othello” and “Carmen” while performing in nearly every major concert hall in the United States. He also has toured Russia and sung in at least two dozen other foreign nations.
Tickets may be purchased by calling the Union Colony Civic Center at 970-356-5000 in Greeley.
