CSC vocal groups in concert Sunday
The Chadron State College concert choir will be joined by the women’s and men’s ensembles in presenting a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2 at the United Methodist Church in Chadron.
Several sacred numbers will be presented by the choir, which is directed by Dr. Joel Schreuder. Included are “Abendlied,” or “Abide With Us,” by Josef Rhienberger and excerpts from Mozart’s “Missa in C minor.”
Dr. Una Taylor, who directs the women’s ensemble, will be the soloist on the latter number.
Also on the choir’s portion of the program are “She Walks in Beauty,” and “What a Wonderful World,” featuring Joe Essay of Bayard as the bass soloist.
This will be the first full-fledged performance by the women’s ensemble that was formed in January, when Taylor joined the CSC music faculty. Its numbers will include “And She Will Rise,” “You Are the New Day,” “He’s Gone Away,” “Winds” and “Fire.”
The men’s ensemble will present “Stouthearted Men,” “Be Thou My Vision” “Psalm 23” by Franz Schubert and a Scottish folk song, “Loch Lomond.” Schreuder directs the men’s ensemble.
Members of the women’s ensemble are Alicia Bakley, Martin, S.D.; Rachael Christian, Gordon; April Peregoy, Big Piney, Wyo.; Sully Sorrano, Rapid City; Larae Tronstad, Powell, Wyo.; and Brittany Weglin, Yoder, Wyo.
The men’s ensemble is made up of Kevin Berggren, Broken Bow; Andrew Blunt, Hot Springs; Travis Carpenter, Oxford; Joe Essay, Bayard; Michael Fulton, Norfolk; David Hockenbary, Murdo, S.D.; Aaron Sargent, Imperial; Dustin Slepicka, Yutan; Shane Teichmeier, Cairo; and Chris Van Dyke, Benkelman.
Tickets for the concert are available through the Memorial Hall box office, which is open each weekday from 2 to 5 p.m. Advance prices are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and youths through high school. The box office telephone number is 432-6360.
