CSC business students rank high at state contest

Chadron State College students earned three firsts, two seconds and four thirds during competition at the Nebraska Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference in Kearney this past weekend.

Janette Davidson, a senior from Imperial, was among the CSC leaders. She won first in both Accounting for Professionals and Human Resources Management and also placed third in Economic Concepts.

Katie Reynolds of Casper, Wyo., won the other first for CSC. It was in the International Business contest. She also was fourth in Accounting for Professionals.

The seconds were won by Stephanie Frey of Seward in Hospitality Management and Dustin Harris of Wauneta in Information Management.

Students who place first or second at the state contest are eligible to advance to the national competition in Nashville on June 24-27.

Winning thirds from Chadron State besides Davidson were Jessica Burke of Crawford in Marketing Concepts, Barrett Hahn of Aurora in Accounting Principles and Marc Pisacka of Gering in Marketing Concepts.

CSC students also won four fourths and six fifths, including three by Lyndsay Wahl of McCook.

At least 150 business majors from a dozen Nebraska colleges participated. Several of the tests had more than 20 entries.

The Chadron State chapter earned the award for the largest membership increase. Just five CSC students participated in the state event last year while 14 of the 15 PBL members took part this year. Dr. Jamie Waldo, who joined the CSC business faculty as a marketing and business law professor last fall, is the chapter sponsor.
