Community chorus to sing holiday tunes

Published:

An array of holiday music will be presented by the Chadron Community Chorus during its concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Chadron Arts Center.

The chorus is directed by Dr. Una Taylor. Also performing prior to the start of the concert will be a brass quintet from Chadron State College.

Taylor said the music to be presented will celebrate the arrival of winter and the Christmas season. In addition to the entire chorus singing several pieces, the men and the women in the group will have a separate number.

Some of the selections will include “Ding Dong Merrily,” “Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind,” “And the Glory” from the oratorio, “Messiah,” “Lord of the Dance,” “Throw the Yule Log On, Uncle John” and “Bashana Haba’ah,” which will be sung in Hebrew.

The men’s ensemble will present “Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening.” The women will sing “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day.”

Adam Lambert, director of the brass quintet, said his group will play “traditional Christmas favorites” starting at about 7 o’clock.

Advance tickets may be obtained through the Memorial Hall box office, which is open from 2 to 5 p.m. each weekday. They are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and youths 18 and under. There is no charge for CSC personnel if the tickets are obtained in advance. All tickets at the door are $6.
