Chadron State accepts 32 high school seniors into RHOP

Published:

Thirty-two seniors in Nebraska high schools have been accepted to participate in the Rural Health Opportunities Program at Chadron State College beginning this fall.

The program was begun in 1990 as a joint venture between Chadron State and the University of Nebraska Medical Center to help alleviate the shortage of health professionals in rural Nebraska.

Under the program, the students take their pre-professional training at

Chadron State before transferring to one of the UMNC sites. The dental students will take their advanced training in Lincoln, the dental hygiene and nursing students in Scottsbluff and the others in Omaha.

Twenty-one of the seniors were accepted into RHOP as primary participants while the others are alternates. Often, the alternates become primary participants before their training at Chadron State is completed.
