Candidates for VP at CSC this week

Two candidates for the vice president for enrollment management and student services position at Chadron State College will be interviewed Thursday and Friday.

They are Dr. Stuart Tennant of Salem, Ore., and Dr. Richard "Randy" Rhine of Chadron. Tennant's interviews will be Thursday and Rhine's on Friday.

Each of the candidates has an extensive background in higher education.

Tennant was provost and academic dean at Northwest Christian College at Eugene, Ore., from June 2002 to May 2005. Prior to that he was assistant vice president for enrollment management and dean of admissions at the University of Las Vegas in Nevada and vice president for enrollment management at Frostburg State University of Maryland. He served in each of those positions for one year. Between 1994 and 2000, he was vice president for student affairs at Willamette University of Salem, Ore., for four years and the University of Northern Colorado for two. He was dean of students at Hiram College of Ohio 1987-1994.

Tennant earned each of his degrees from Ohio State University. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English literature and a doctorate in educational policy and leadership with an emphasis on student affairs and organizational development theory.

Rhine has served as Chadron State's special assistant to the president for enrollment management and marketing since December 2005. Before coming to CSC, he was dean of the College of Professional Studies and Lifelong Learning at Montana State University-Billings since 1996. From 1984 to 1996 he worked in the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, his alma mater. He served four years each as director of conferences, assistant dean and, lastly, associate dean.

He earned all three degrees at Arkansas. He has a bachelor's degree in political science, a master's in educational technology, and a doctorate in adult education.

Two interviews for CSC’s vice president of academic affairs position will be the first week of May. The vice president of enrollment management and student services position was created earlier this year when the duties under the former title of vice president of academic and student affairs were split.
