The students of the Chadron State College Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs were given special recognition during a luncheon at CSC’s Tutoring Center on Tuesday.

Among those recognized were two tutors and three SI leaders who are leaving their respective programs after completing degree requirements or on-campus coursework this week. They are tutors Ashley Pullen of Lusk, Wyo., and David Voltmer of Torrington, Wyo., and SI leaders Patrick Montague of Alliance, Ryan Morgan of Ogallala and Dani Dorshorst of Oberlin, Kan.

In addition, three tutors were recognized for earning certification from the College Reading and Learning Association. They are Voltmer, Rex Morrison of Valentine and Roxann Gilbert of Chadron.

CSC’s nationally certified peer tutor program consists of students who come highly recommended by faculty, meet stringent qualifications, and are eager to share the secrets of their successes. Tutoring is a free service provided by the college and available to all CSC students.

SI leaders are exemplary students who host a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically challenging courses. The students, who have already had success in the courses, attend classes with the students.

Chadron State College’s tutoring coordinator is Frances Gonzales. More information about tutoring and SI can be found on the Department of Student Academic Success Service’s Web site, www.csc.edu/sass.
