Members of the Chadron State College community have been saddened by the death of one of its students, Jamie Bunner of Sidney.

Bunner, 21, was killed at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when her car collided with a gravel truck on U.S. Highway 20 about 10 miles east of Chadron.

According to news reports, Bunner was eastbound when she apparently lost control of her car on slick pavement caused by rain and snow. The car crossed the centerline and was broadsided by Sheridan County Road Department gravel truck. The truck driver was taken to Chadron Community Hospital.

Bunner, a 2001 graduate of Sidney High School, was a senior majoring in elementary education.

Chadron State counselors will be available to consult with students, faculty and staff. They are located on the third floor of Crites Hall and can be reached by phone at (308) 432-6461.
