The Chadron State College Students in Free Enterprise team this spring had its best finish ever at the National Exposition at Kansas City, Mo., tying for fifth place. The CSC business students lost to only the University of Arizona, the eventual runner-up.

In addition, Chadron State qualified as a finalist in all five special competitions offered by SIFE and was second in the nation in the entrepreneurial and free markets economics education competitions.

“The team did a fantastic job,” said Dr. Rick Koza, a CSC business professor who is the group’s sponsor. “We were one of only three teams to place in all five special competitions. This was the team’s best finish ever.”

The 15-member team completed 30 projects, many of which help people learn about free enterprise. The group has received a $900 grant from SIFE to continue financial literacy projects on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and around Chadron.
