Seniors' piano recital is Sunday
Chadron State College seniors Ashley Grey of Valentine and Jennifer Lammers of Hartington will highlight their college music careers with a piano recital Sunday.
The recital, which is free and open to the public, will be at 2 p.m. at the Chicoine Atrium of the Sandoz Center. CSC piano professor Jim Margetts said the concert is expected to last slightly over an hour.
Margetts said one of the highlights will be Grey’s performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The two also will play selections composed by Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven, Schubert and Scarlatti.
Grey and Lammers are studying piano studio operations in Chadron State’s music business program.
Grey, who will graduate in May, is the first Chadron State student to be selected for an internship with the International Music Products Association, known throughout the industry as NAMM. Margetts said Grey will work at the organization’s headquarters at Carlsbad, Calif., next fall and travel throughout the United States.
Lammers has landed a job in keyboard sales with Steinway distributor West Music Company. She is completing an internship there this fall. The retail chain has seven locations throughout Iowa.
