Search continues for CSC president

The search for a new president at Chadron State College continues. Stan Carpenter, executive director of the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges, told the Chadron State employees Tuesday morning that none of the three finalists for the position who visited the campus last week will fill the position.

Carpenter called the three “good candidates with lots of experience and interesting ideas,” but said none of them appeared to be the right fit.

Carpenter said the search will resume immediately and he hopes to have the new president appointed by the end of the semester. He said Chadron State is a “strong and excellent” institution and the search committee, board of trustees and he want to make sure the right person is selected.

The 13 members of the search committee have agreed to remain intact while the new search takes place, Carpenter said.

Dr. Tom Krepel, who is the college’s ninth president, resigned last April, effective June 30, 2005.

The three finalists were Dr. Gregory Aloia, dean of the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University at Boca Raton; Dr. David Svaldi, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Adams State College at Alamosa, Colo.; and Dr. Niel T. Zimmerman, special assistant to the dean of the College of Business and Public Administration at Eastern Washington University at Cheney.
