NSCS Board of Trustees to meet in Chadron
The Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State College System will join the public for an open house of the renovated Edna Work Hall and Wing when it meets on the campus of Chadron State College this week.
The open house is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, with a ribbon cutting at noon. An open house for those attending Chadron State’s Family Day will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
The $4.3 million project has resulted in the development of 48 suite-style rooms, making it one of the finest student housing facilities in Nebraska. There’s a living room between the bedrooms, each of which includes a complete bathroom. Honor students are living in the hall.
The recent renovation was the first overhaul of the three-story structure since it was constructed in 1932. The Wing was added in 1959-60 and was renovated last year.
The board’s business meeting will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the Chicoine Atrium of the Sandoz Center and is open to the public.
A number of other Chadron State facilities improvements are on the board’s agenda.
The board is scheduled to approve the use of use of more than $22,500 of capital improvement fee funds for roof repairs to Armstrong Gymnasium, Miller Hall and the Reta King Library. The total estimated cost of the projects is $150,500, the bulk of which will be paid for with funds made possible by Nebraska Legislative Bill 309.
The library repairs, at $130,000, comprise most of the cost.
Chadron State employees will take part in an open forum with the board at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Student Center.
The NSCS board meeting will be the first for CSC President Dr. Janie Park who began in August.
