A marketing professor who has a wealth of experience in business and economic development has joined the faculty at Chadron State College.

Dr. Timothy Donahue has spent most of his career in the Upper Midwest. He has a master of business administration degree from St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minn., and holds a doctorate in adult learning state and corporate training from the University of South Dakota.

He has owned and operated small businesses and has received five district, three regional and one national award from the Small Business Administration for outstanding consulting. In addition, the Independent Business Association of Minnesota selected him as its “small business champion.”

Donahue has held numerous SBA leadership positions, including director of the Minnesota SBA Center and the institute it sponsored. He also was the district director of the Score program for SBA counselors to small businesses in South Dakota.

In addition, Donahue has taught a variety of business courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels since 1978. Most recently, he was on the faculty at the University of Sioux Falls.

“I try to blend real world applications with solid academic principles to make sure students are equipped with the tools necessary to compete in business,” said Donahue, who added that he is looking forward to providing economic and business development programs in the region.

The new CSC professor has three grown daughters and three grandchildren. He fills the vacancy on the business faculty that was created when Cliff Hanson retired in 2004 after more than 30 years at the college.
