Justice studies professor elected council chairman
Dr. George Watson, Chadron State College justice studies professor, has been elected chairman of the Nebraska Policy Standards Advisory Council, which oversees the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center near Grand Island and the certification and training of police officers in Nebraska.
Watson was initially appointed to the council by former Gov. Ben Nelson and was re-appointed by Gov. Dave Heineman.
In addition, Watson has been appointed by Heineman to serve on the Nebraska Crime Commission, which oversees the crime prevention policy for the State of Nebraska and handles funds and grants for the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems in the state. This is Watson’s second term on the crime commission. His first stint was in the mid-1990s.
