The Chadron State College vocal and instrumental jazz groups will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 in Memorial Hall. Tickets may be obtained through the college’s box office at 432-6360 and also will be available at the door.

The instrumental ensemble that is directed by Dr. Sandy Schaefer will feature Chadron State’s new director of bands, Adam Lambert, as the lead trumpet player. Lambert will perform several improvised solos along with Jolana Milburn of Rushville and Alese Hebbert of Gering, both on the saxophone.

The band will play “There's The Rub” by Gordon Goodwin, “Ornithology,” which was made famous by Charlie Parker, and other popular numbers such as “Robin’s Nest,” “Lester Leaps In” and “Opus de Shuffle.”

The vocal jazz ensemble directed by Dr. Joel Schreuder will perform a version of Benny Goodman’s famous recording “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and an exciting Latin version of "The Lady Is a Tramp."

Also on the program are Sonny Rollins' tune, "Tenor Madness," which will provide a vehicle for everyone in the ensemble to solo. The group also will perform “Everybody Gets the Blues,” “You Don't Love Me Like You Used To” with Karin Keller as soloist and “Just Goofin'.”

Also on the vocal program is “This Little Light of Mine” with Milburn the soloist.
