High school seniors to enter RHOP at Chadron State
Thirty-six Nebraska high school seniors have been accepted into the Rural Health Opportunities Program at Chadron State College beginning this fall. Their selections were based on college entrance examination scores, academic success and leadership exhibited in high school and personal interviews.
After studying from two to four years at Chadron State depending on which of the eight components of the program they are entering, the students will attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha or the UN College of Dentistry in Lincoln for their professional training.
RHOP was begun in 1989. At least 165 RHOP students from Chadron State have graduated from UNMC with 120 of them practicing in rural communities of Nebraska and neighboring states.
Seventy-four RHOP students are currently enrolled at CSC, taking courses that will lead to their professional training.
Some of the incoming students were selected as alternates, who frequently are also accepted at UNMc.
