A Chadron State College student, Jeff Wahl, has been elected chairman of the Nebraska Counseling Association’s Graduate Student Committee. He was installed in the office at the NCA’s Leadership Conference in Kearney on July 22-23.

Wahl earned his bachelor’s degree from Chadron State in 2003 and now is a graduate assistant in the Department of Counseling, Psychology and Social Work at CSC. He expects to complete work on his master’s degree in counseling in the spring of 2006.

Following graduation, he hopes to work with children and adolescents in a community counseling setting.

Wahl said he plans to visit most of the colleges and universities in Nebraska during his term in office to get acquainted with their counseling programs and also to discuss the benefits of joining and participating in the NCA. He said the benefits include networking to increase the exchange of information and keeping abreast of new legislation and trends in counseling.

At CSC, Wahl is co-sponsor of the Psychology Club and secretary-treasurer of Chi Sigma Iota, an honorary counseling society. He was recommended for the state position by Dr. Laura Gaudet, associate professor of psychology at CSC.

Jeff is a 1999 graduate of Chadron High School and the son of Nancy Wahl of Chadron.
