For the sixth consecutive year, the Chadron State College Students in Free Enterprise team will compete at the annual National Exposition, which will be May 22-24 in Kansas City, Mo. The team qualified by being one of nine champions crowned at the regional competition in Denver on April 4. Twenty-five teams participated.

Dr. Rick Koza, Chadron State’s team sponsor, said the CSC team was the only one to present to a “full house” at Denver, and received a standing ovation when it was finished.

In addition to the traditional competition, Chadron State swept its six-member league in the event’s four special national business categories -- entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills, business ethics and free market economics.

Chadron State also qualified as a national finalist in “Polsky Personal Investing to Achieve Financial Independence.” Chadron State was the only team at the Denver competition to qualify as a finalist in all four special competitions and the Polsky contest.

The Chadron State team, which has combined for more than 2,700 hours in projects in the Chadron area this year, was awarded a $900 grant to continue its financial literacy activities.

The other teams in CSC’s league were Black Hills State University, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado State University-Pueblo, Midland Lutheran College and Rocky Mountain College. Midland Lutheran also earned championship status.
