CSC has new humanities professor
A new humanities professor has begun working at Chadron State College. Jonathan Austad replaces Dr. Robert Doxtator, who is beginning a phased retirement after teaching at the college since 1968.
Austad was born in Germany while his father was in the military, but he grew up in Bellevue, Mich. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his master’s degree from Florida State University.
He has completed the coursework on his doctorate from Florida State, and is beginning work on his doctoral dissertation on author Ernest Hemingway.
While at Florida State, Austad was a graduate teaching assistant for three years. He is teaching Patterns of Humanities and Mythology at CSC.
Austad’s wife, Jamie, also grew up in Michigan. They have three children--a son Spencer, age 10, and daughters Regan, 7, and Isabella, 3.
