The Chadron State College wind ensemble and brass quintet will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in Memorial Hall. The concert will be the first of the school year on campus by a CSC group and it also will be the first at Chadron State for the college’s new band director, Adam Lambert.

A graduate of Brigham Young University and previously the band director at Provo High School in Utah, Lambert became the CSC band director following the retirement of Dr. William Winkle, who held the position 34 years.

Lambert said the wind ensemble will play numerous selections that members of the audience will recognize. They include “Americans We” by Henry Fillmore, the “Theme from Green Bushes” by Percy Grainger and J.S. Bach’s “If Thou Be Near.”

The concluding number will be “Corale and Shaker Dance.”

The brass quintet is comprised of Conrad Gachne, Gering; Cynthia Gillespie and Alex Jones, Alliance; James Savery, Custer, S.D.; and Chris VanDyke, Benkelman. Their numbers will include “Beale Street Blues” and the well-known spiritual, “Bones.”

Tickets for the concert purchased in advance will be $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and youths through high school. They may be obtained through the Memorial Hall Box Office, which is open from 2 to 6 p.m. each weekday. All tickets at the door will be $6.
