Chadron State taking orientation to students

Published:

Future Chadron State College students will now be able to register for courses and attend orientation sessions in early March at sites throughout western Nebraska. In addition to three orientations at the CSC campus, college personnel plan to conduct sessions at Gordon, Alliance, Scottsbluff, Ogallala, Sidney and Atkinson.

Tena Gould, CSC director of admissions, expects the sessions hosted by area schools to be attended by students within a 100-mile radius of those locations.

“Students from Nebraska, and other states are welcome at all of these events,” she said.

Orientations inform students about details they will need to know when classes begin, such as housing policies, tutoring, food service, laundry facilities and computer access. In addition, CSC advisors will be available at each session to help students finalize their course schedules.

Gould said the idea of taking orientation to locations outside Chadron came from CSC’s efforts to better serve its 30-county service region.

“This will help students who are already familiar with our campus save time and money,” she said.

Students can sign up for an orientation by visiting the www.csc.edu/admissions or by calling the admissions office at 1-800-CHADRON. The cost of each session is $20.
