Adam Lambert of Denton, Texas, has been hired as the new director of bands at Chadron State College. Lambert is a doctoral student at the University of North Texas studying classical trumpet performance. He has earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah, and plans to have his doctorate completed this fall.

In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate level trumpet students at North Texas, he also gives private lessons and conducts a trumpet ensemble at Eastfield College at Mesquite, Texas.

While working toward his master’s degree from 1997-2002, Lambert was the head band director at Provo High School. He started a marching band program at the school that won awards in its first year. In addition, Provo High’s symphonic band, and jazz and percussion ensembles consistently received superior ratings under his direction.

Lambert said he is excited about his opportunity at Chadron State.

“I’d heard good things about Chadron State from friends, and the description on the job posting seemed to fit me pretty well,” he said.

As director of bands, Lambert will oversee Chadron State’s wind ensemble, brass ensemble, brass studio, brass pedagogy and conducting. Lambert succeeds Dr. William Winkle who retired this spring after 34 years on the CSC faculty.

The new director and his wife, Michelle, have three children – Eric, 7, Jensen, 4, and Mara, 1. They plan to move to Chadron in mid-summer.
