Chadron State business professor wins award

Dr. Robert Duron, Chadron State associate professor of business, has been selected as the regional winner of the Teaching Excellence Award of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
Duron, who teaches upper level accounting courses at Chadron State, was named this year’s outstanding educator of ACBSP’s Midwestern Council, which includes 18 four-year colleges and universities in Nebraska, the Dakotas, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri.
“This came as quite a surprise to me,” Duron said. “I knew that they (Dr. David Welch, former dean of Professional and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Tim Anderson, chairman of the Department of Business and Economics) had nominated me for the award a long time ago, but suspected that I didn’t receive it because we hadn’t heard from them for so long.”
Duron is one of only six educators now eligible for the ACBSP International Teaching Excellence Award for baccalaureate and graduate degree granting institutions, which will be presented at the organization’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., June 24-27.
This is Duron's seventh year as a CSC faculty member. He was the college's comptroller for two years prior to teaching.
ACBSP is a professional accreditation agency based in Overland Park, Kan. Chadron State became accredited by ACBSP in 2003.
