Beef program at Sandoz Center

How did the Great American Desert become the best beef producing state in the nation? A program, “Where’s the Beef?” tracing the evolution of the beef industry in Nebraska into the 21st century will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 in the Chicoine Atrium of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College.

The speaker will be John E. Carter, a senior researcher from the Nebraska State Historical Society. He will discuss the cowboys, cattle barons, entrepreneurs and ranchers who made Nebraska the Beef State.

The program will be open to the public without charge.

Carter’s presentation will the third at the Sandoz Center this fall in conjunction with the center’s year-long programs on food.
